100 Foot Tall Film Night | The Great Wall of Oakland

For special events, and on select first Fridays during Oakland Art Murmur, the Great Wall of Oakland, a 100 ′x 100′ projection installation, illuminates the Uptown District with cutting-edge motion art from around the world.

The Great Wall of Oakland is located at the corner of Broadway and West Grand Avenue in downtown Oakland.

December’s screening was rained out, so they’re starting off 2015 showing Super 8 films that were made in the fall during a series of Super 8 Workshops (made possible by the wonderful teaching artist Laura Wright, and others who generously hosted these workshops – Smokey’s Tangle, ProArts, and Oakland School for the Arts).

The Oakland Super 8 Film Project (OS8) is a community-based art project collaborating with The Great Wall of Oakland to serve the Uptown District and surrounding communities. OS8 educates participants in super 8 filmmaking, provides cameras free of charge, and screens the finished films at the Great Wall for the entire community to enjoy.

Please note, Oakland Super 8 has been rescheduled to March 6, 2015 due to rain.
