Event Details

Commemorate 100 years of service the Twin Peaks Tunnel, which runs between Castro and West Portal Muni stations, and the K Ingleside line.

SFMTA has partnered with the West Portal Branch Library to host a photo exhibit of the Twin Peaks Tunnel and K Ingleside line and show a century-old silent film documenting the tunnel’s construction. Rick Laubscher, president of Market Street Railway, will lead a walking tour of the station area at 3pm while talking about the tunnel’s history.

The first 100 people to attend the exhibit at the library will get a free handy K-Ingleside canvas tote bag. They will be handing out only 100 pages – 100 bags for 100 years of service.

The photo exhibit and video will be available to view at the library through February.

The library is also holding an open house the same day with activities for kids, including a storytelling performance, smoothie making, bracelet and button making, and a visit from the Waldorf High School Jazz Band.

  • 1 pm: The Waldorf High School Jazz  Band
  • 1 pm: Macrame Bracelet-making Craft
  • 2 pm: The Amazing Harriet Tubman and Her Three Lives: performed by Linda Wright
  • The Smoothie Bike
