Event Details

The 1st Annual Tribe City Festival will kick off July 16th, 2016 and showcase a stellar lineup of Bay Area and national musicians, vendors, and artists.

Free, but a ticket is required for entry. There’s a $5 suggested donation.

This festival has been designed to reflect the theme urban village, calling for international recognition of the importance of collective efficacy throughout the African Diaspora. The mission is to expand this tribal philosophy in an urban landscape as a way promote unity and generate love and healing.

The day-long free festival will feature a selection of film screenings, interactive workshops, fine craft vendors and live painting by Bay Area artists. Local Black-owned restaurants will also serve their healthy and delicious fare at the festival.

2016 Festival Schedule

  • 12-1 pm / 4-5 pm: Kemetic Yoga
    Learn the ancient Egyptian (Kemetic) system of Yoga based upon the practices of physical movements as depicted on walls and temples of Kemet combined with controlled deep breathing and meditation.
  • 1-2:30 pm / 4-5:30 pm: Film Screenings & Panel Discussion
    Watch short films of various genres created by local Black film makers and engage in a lively panel discussion with the artist. See the lineup for the films.
  • 12-7 pm: Live Performances and DJs
    Get into the tribal groove. Local and National performers will keep the stage lit. See the lineup for the festival artists.
  • 12-7 pm: Food Trucks and Craft Vendors
    Local Black makers artist, designers and makers will be offering you their goods to purchase. Food vendors featuring food from the Diaspora will also be serving up their scrumptious fare. Come ready to invest in the Tribe.

A special event for all ages, Tribe City Fest also caters to families with kid-friendly activities and programming.
