FREE “Earplay - Exploring” chamber orchestra concert at Herbst

EARPLAY, the new chamber music ensemble renowned for its bold programming emphasizes in its 2006-07 season the power of innovation in new music and the stimulating lineage of musical ideas during the twentieth century.

Featured composers areKryzysztof Penderecki (recently heard in the film Children of Men), Gyrogy Ligeti, James H. Carr, Christopher Wendell Jones, and Kurt Rohde.

Mary Chun conducts the Earplayers, a group of six outstanding Bay Area musicians: Tod Brody, flute and piccolo; Peter Josheff, clarinet and bass clarinet; Terrie Baune, violin; Ellen Ruth Rose, viola; Thalia Moore, cello, and Karen Rosenak, piano.

In March they are joined by exceptional Bay Area artists, Katharine Tier , voice, Kurt Rohde, viola and Dan Reiter, cello. The concert is free, though donations are appreciated.

Take BART to the Civic Center station. Walk down Market Street towards 8th St. Take a right onto Hyde and walk up til you hit McAllister. Take a left on McAllister. Walk down and take a left on Van Ness. The Herbst Theater is located at 401 Van Ness Ave @ McAllister.
