Friday Nights at the de Young celebrates Women and Jazz (Golden Gate Park)

7:00–7:30 p.m. Wordsongs by devorah major, spoken-word performer and former Poet Laureate of San Francisco, featuring Richard Howell on saxophone.. 7:45–8:30 p.m Live Music: The Dee Spencer Septet. Famed San Francisco piano colossus Dee Spencer will present her NeoVintage Septet, putting a big-band spin on her special brand of jazz and bebop. Also, Art Activity for Everyone: Inspired by island life, decorate your own hand using traditional Samoan tattoo designs. (the galleries still require an admission fee, but all events listed here are free and open to the public)
