A Majestic Fine Art Painting Of San Francisco Nature On A Plug-In Hybrid Car and Other Works Of Art On Display
Wine, hors d’oeuvres, DJ “spinnin out of control”, and beautiful art for sale
Luscious Garage, the female-owned and run hybrid specialist in the SoMa neighborhood, presents its new mascot flagship. A Toyota Prius was used as a 3-D canvas for fine-art artist Jonah Roll, who brought his own brand of “fantastic delusion” to the auto’s surface; meticulously air-brushing, stippling, spattering, and brushing on the freshly-sanded car surface in a manner as engaging as he takes to canvas and wood.
“Painting on a form that isn’t flat reacts and features the imagery very differently, which is exciting,” said Roll about the painted hybrid.
Jonah Roll, an established local artist, was commissioned for the piece by Carolyn Coquillette, owner of Luscious Garage, who lays the proud claim to be the planet’s first auto repair shop dedicated to maintenance of hybrid cars, and the conversion of gasoline-powered cars into electric ones. A hybrid itself, the Luscious is a combination of both sophisticated, state-of-the-art mechanic facilities and an art gallery situated in a green, well-lit facility antithetical to most people’s idea of a “garage”.
Come to enjoy the artistic embellishment of this plug-powered mobil mural and celebrate with us in the spirit of alternative energy in one of the world’s most innovative venues!
