Google’s legendary founding super-chef, Charlie Ayers, outlines everything one needs to know about the newest nutrition buzzword: brainfood. He outlines the basics on how the right foods can transform your mind and body, and then teaches you how to stock your kitchen with the healthiest foods available. Raw, organic, and fermented is Charlie’s mantra, which is reflected in more than 90 easy-to- prepare recipes, whether it’s a Kick-start Breakfast, a Power Lunch, or a Light, Bright Dinner. And, following the world-famous formula Charlie used at Google headquarters, the meals and snacks are designed to feed your brain exactly what it needs at different points throughout the workday. Charlie worked at Whole Foods for a number of years, and it was there that he really learned to appreciate and understand the importance of organics. He joined Google in 1999 as the 53rd employee.

His next venture, Calafia Café and Market-a-Go-Go, is slated to open up in August of 2008, in Palo Alto, across from Stanford University. A large part of the concept for the restaurant is the foods that Chef Charlie’s prepared in Food 2.0. It promotes eclectic flavors, primarily consistent of a vegetarian menu, with the inclusion of minimal meats in an Asian cooking style, i.e. where the meat is a component and not a main ingredient.

“Chef Charlie’s delicious and nourishing cuisine was the secret sauce behind Google’s early success.” — David A. Vise, Author, The Google Story
