Saturday, May 24
10:00 amto5:00 pm

Tinkerer and kinetic artist extraordinaire, Paul Cesewski recreates an old-fashioned carnival midway at the dump as the latest artist-in-residence at SF Recycling and Disposal (aka “The Dump”). The exhibition will have the ambiance of a carnival and will feature bicycle-pedal-powered marvels and games of amusement made from found and recycled materials.

The Crank Ensemble will preform Friday evening. D.J. iscreamlopez and D.J. Big Daddy will spin the carny tones. Family fun at The Dump. Clown food and drinks will be provided.

The goal of the Artist In Residence Program at SF Recycling & Disposal, Inc. is to use art to inspire people to recycle more and conserve natural resources. The company provides selected local artists with the opportunity to create art using materials they gather from San Francisco’s refuse.

The 2,000-square-foot art studio is located at SF Recycling & Disposal, Inc.’s Solid Waste Transfer and Recycling Center. The 44-acre site is where most of San Francisco’s garbage and recyclables are temporarily dumped before going to a landfill or recycling plant. Recyclable items are sorted before being shipped to recycling plants and manufacturing facilities.
