Art Opening Reception - Vinyl Apocalypse : Art on Records @ Lower Haters (Lower Haight)

Friday, June 6
7:00 pm

This record album will destroy Alderaan: At “Vinyl Apocalypse,” local painters find a way to a) pay tribute to the era of the platter, b) keep stuff out of the landfill, and c) make great art, some of which will blow up Princess Leia’s home planet. Anything round is an especially good fit for this show, in which all the work starts out as a slab of wax no one wants to play anymore. Jonathan Wakuda Fischer (kind of a suspicious last name for an artist dealing in Star Wars iconography, man) went for it: “They mocked me when I told them of my plans for a hot pink Death Star,” he says, and we’re guessing “they” are sorry now. Thirty-some other talented artists contribute boob girls, space bugs, goldfish, and more. Opening Reception starts at 7pm - Source: SF Weekly
