San Francisco 4th of July 2008 Waterfront Fireworks Celebration (Fisherman’s Wharf)

All-day activities with live music capped off by fireworks around 9:15p

Fisherman’s Wharf and Pier 39 celebrates Independence Day with an afternoon filled with fun and excitement. Come and enjoy Big Bang Beat from 1-4pm and Tainted Love from 6-9:30pm. Following the onstage entertainment, visitors can stay to watch the spectacular fireworks. Other good viewing locations are all along the waterfront, the Cannery, Ghirardelli Square. Fireworks launch from the foot of Municipal Pier and barges to the north of PIER 39.

Getting to the Fireworks: To get to the fireworks, you can take the Cable Car, F, 9x, 10, 30, 45, 47, 49 and shuttle buses are available from Caltrain, the Ferry Building and from Van Ness/Market. Beaware many muni lines may be rerouted due to the large crowds. [updated SF Muni 4th of July re-routing information]

Want a Better View of the Fireworks:? For $10 you can board the historic WWII Liberty Ship docked at Pier 45 and watch the fireworks from the deck of the S.S. Jeremiah O’Brien (plus there’s free coffee and hot cocoa)

    This is usually a fun event on the northern waterfront, but check the forecast for fog which can ruin the view of the fireworks
