The 2008 WestWave Dance Festival celebrates the shifting landscape of dance in the Bay Area through performances, film screenings and the premiere of a commissioned site specific work by Joanna Haigood, artistic director of Zaccho Dance Theater called The Shifting Cornerstone. The Shifting Cornerstone is a work that explores the character and the rhythm of the corner of Third and Mission Streets through a series of simultaneous vignettes continuously looped for 5 hours each day. Some vignettes focus on the subtle and more nuanced facets of this bustling corner, while others introduce imagery that challenge the viewer’s general notion of the place itself. When: Sat Aug 16, Sun Aug 17, Wed-Sun Aug, 20-24, 2008, Continuous performance from 12noon-5pm - Location: 3rd and Mission Streets in front of the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts gallery entrance
