If you like Badly Drawn Boy, See “Joel Streeter” outdoor concert @ Park Chalet

Friday, August 22
8:00 pmto11:00 pm

If Radiohead/Beck at Outside Lands festival is too expensive for you ($85) head out to the Park Chalet at the end of Golden Gate Park for a free acoustic solo concert by local singer/songwriter Joel Streeter who recently won the first round of the 2nd Annual Bay Rising, Battle of the Bands. Streeter cleverly fuses britpop melodies with mid-tempo indie rock and easily navigates his songs away from the traditional pitfalls of generic songwriting, standard chord changes and lazy lyrics. His excellent debut album “Hear Me Out” had song after song which could easily have made it onto the O.C. soundtrack. Tonight expect to hear a dusting off of several songs from his upcoming sophomore album including Matador and Bird in a Gilded Cage.

Streeter and his full band will be performing at the finals at Great American Music Hall on Aug 27.

See this show if you like: Brendan Benson (from the Raconteurs), Badly Drawn Boy, Elliot Smith, Wilco, Joseph Arthur, Jason Mraz, Jordan Zevon
