34th annual Giro di San Francisco: cycling race through downtown

The 34th annual Giro di San Francisco (formerly known as the San Francisco Grand Prix) returns to San Francisco on Labor Day. Currently sponsored by Metromint, the city’s oldest cycling event will race through downtown San Francisco with action-packed speed and precision for cyclists of all ages and abilities – from beginners to world-class pros – all competing for over $10,000 in prizes [schedule]. In addition to the race is an expo area East side of Union Street) which includes kids area, cycling and food and beverage stations. The race starts at Battery and Union Street, where announcers will post times and announce winners. Best viewing areas are Battery/Union Green, Front and Vallejo Streets.
