Event Details

Do your kids love puzzles, games, logic, and math? Do they enjoy Alice in Wonderland? Then come celebrate math with more than a dozen different hands-on activities at the Celebration of Mind from 1 pm to 4 pm on Sunday, October 23, 2016.

Free, but registration is encouraged.

The event honors the life and work of Martin Gardner, former Scientific American columnist who inspired a generation of mathematicians and recreational math enthusiasts.

Event Schedule (Subject to change, final details will be posted by 10/14)

  • 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. – California Math Festival (Baker Board Room)
  • 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. – Hands-on Math Activities with MSRI (Atrium)
  • 1:30, 2:30, 3:30 p.m. – Mathical Books Read-Aloud (Hearst Library)
  • 1:45 p.m. – Stage Show: “Unusual Kingdoms” Math + Music Sneak Preview (Simons Auditorium)
  • 2:15 p.m. – Math Fun with Cliff Stoll (Simons Auditorium)
  • 3:00 p.m. – Math + Magic with Mark Mitton

It’s all happening at the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI) in Berkeley.
