Each $5 First Friday at Chabot is an exciting and immersive experience for all ages. Join them each month for hands-on activities and live demonstrations that are fun for the whole family.

Pre-purchase tickets – $5

This event occurs every first Friday of the month. Each month there will be new things to explore. Some activities have limited capacity and are first come, first served.

Mars Rover Curiosity: Come and see the full sized replica of the NASA Mars rover.

Maker Space: 6-9:30pm
Join in on the fun and create something awesome with our resident makers and community partners!
Featuring: Tenaya Hurst and RogueMaking. Stop by this booth to learn about wearable tech and prototype washable, sewable circuits! Electrical Engineering can be hard, but Tenaya gets you started with this safe way to be creative with circuits. Check out her fashion shows, music videos, and book a workshop to get into the maker movement!

Tinker Kitchen: Come and play with your food at this booth!
Tinker Kitchen is a makerspace in the Mission in San Francisco with all the cooking gadgets you can’t fit into your kitchen. Join them at the kitchen, swap cooking tips with other food hackers, learn cool new things, and embark on your own cooking adventures! They are currently under construction and will be opening in a few months. tinkerkitchen.org

The Original Scraper Bike Team: Stop by this booth and learn how to deck out your bicycle!
(Bring your own bike rim if you would like to take your project home with you!)
The Scraper Bike Movement seeks to capture the creativity of youth living within dangerous communities. It gives them a positive outlet that is fun, educational, and promotes healthy lifestyles. The Scraper Bike Movement offers youth a sustainable group of peers that is positive and motivating. We want to expand and enlighten young people’s perspective on life through fixing and painting bicycles. Our goal is to support youth entrepreneurship and cultural innovation.

Telescope Viewing: 7:30-10:30pm
The impressive 20″ telescope, named Rachel, is the largest refractor in the western United States regularly open to the public. Its companion, the 8″ Alvan Clark refractor, named Leah, is the original 1883 instrument donated by founder Anthony Chabot. Nellie, Chabot‘s youngest and most powerful telescope, is housed in a rolling roof observatory, allowing access to 180 degrees of sky. This modern, research-quality telescope offers breathtaking views of the cosmos.

Story Time: 7pm
Sit out on our Observatory Deck and listen to our resident storyteller tell stories of science fiction for all ages.

Star Stories: 8pm
Bring your sleeping bag and a jacket for star gazing and storytelling on our Observatory Lawn

Interstellar Space DJs: Yo! Santos & miz-iggy 6:30pm-9:30pm
Our resident DJ’s will bring you their cosmic beats that will get your moonboots moving. This will be one giant dance party for mankind
