Charlie Chaplin Days: 50¢ Silent Film Festival | FremontThe Niles Essanay Silent Film Museum presents a weekend dedicated to the inimitable Charlie Chaplin on June 7-8, 2014.

Activities will be spilling out onto Niles Boulevard between F and I streets. View one and two-reel movies that were actually filmed in the Niles and view Charlie Chaplin exhibits on display at the Fremont Art Association. Look out for Charlie Chaplin impersonators (especially on Sunday) walking around town. There’ll also be penny carnival games, such as a Bean Bag Toss and High Striker.

  • 12:30 pm: The Champion
  • 1:15 pm: In The Park

  • 7:30 pm: Charlie Chaplin: The Little Tramp at 100 Years
    Silent film with Judy Rosenberg on piano
    $5 suggested donation

    A two hour survey with commentary by David Shepard and film of the actor-writer-director-producer who made more people laugh than anyone in history, yet also behind the hilarity displayed the fears and sorrows of everyman.
    The program includes:

    • Kid Auto Race
    • Mabel’s Married Life
    • Easy Street
    • Plus sequences from The Tramp, A Dog’s Life, Shoulder Arms, The Pilgrim, The Gold Rush, City Lights, Modern Times and The Great Dictator.
