“95 Rituals” Book Release & Performance | Oakland

As a part of their current exhibition, The 96th Ritual (For Anna Halprin), Taiko drummer Jimi Nakagawa and dancer Shinichi Iova-Koga will perform a duet to celebrate the release of the “95 Rituals” book which documents the process and performance of the 2015 project “95 Rituals” in honor of Anna Halprin.

Jimi, a former member of San Francisco Taiko Dojo, incorporates improvisational jazz music. Shinichi, an improviser and creator of experimental theater works, incorporates Japanese traditional dances. The two fire information back and forth, colluding and colliding.
