Annie Alley Public Promenade | SoMa
From May 20-24, 2013 SPUR embarks on a week-long experiment in public placemaking in San Francisco’s Annie Alley.
Working with the Yerba Buena Community Benefit District, they will close Annie Alley to car traffic and host a series of outdoor public events, including a picnic, a film screening, a concert and a discussion of the role Zuccotti Park played in Occupy Wall Street.
Local performance company Here Now Dance Collective has brought their art to audiences in urban settings all over the United States.
For their latest piece, This Is Dedicated…, the collective is working with a live DJ and visual designer for the first time. Together they will activate Annie Alley with an exciting production performed within the frame of an old WWI dance-a-thon, utilizing the setting of the alley as the inspiration for their movement.
Please note this is a relatively small dance & DJ event on a small alley in SoMa – so don’t expect a giant pumping party, but more a unique dance experience in the street.
