Bay Area Ladyfest 2014

Bay Area Ladyfest is an annual, non-profit event organised mainly by womyn featuring  bands, musical and political groups, lecturers, spoken word and visual artists, workshops and discussion groups and are organised purely by volunteers.

The events are focused mainly on encouraging the talent of womyn and girls, and some workshops are womyn-only, so as to make them feel more comfortable, however, main music events and films/art exhibits are open to everyone.

On Saturday, September 14, 2013, explore Bay Area Ladyfest with workshops, vendors, a zine table, skateboarding for girls, poetry, and live music.

Bay Area Ladyfest Schedule | September 14, 2013

12-1:15 pm: Kids Liberation Workshop: Strategies for allies and caretakers
This roundtable discussion will explore the ways we can parent in feminist, sex-positive, anti-authoritarian ways.

1:15-1:25 pm: Poetry reading by Phoenix. A piece commissioned for the 2012 SF Walk Against Rape.

1:25-1:45 pm: Live music by Brinicle: Icy Finger of Death (experimental ambient viola)

1:45-3 pm: Lady Shred Session by SF Skate Like a Girl
Skate Like a Girl SF is an all volunteer run organization that aims to empower girls and women through skateboarding.

1:45-3 pm: Healing Our Queer Spirits
“Many of us navigate complex realities as we walk in our queer bodies of color. Through a variety of activities, this workshop will provide a space in the conference to have a healing circle. I hope that you leave with tools that can help you either begin or continue healing wounds of the body or metaphysical layers of your self. Topics that will be covered: language as a manifestation of reality, healing memory of trauma, generational poverty/poverty mentality, and the power of vision boarding ~ dream healing. Led by Bere”

3-3:30 pm: Live music by Dorian Finch (Synth/Dream/Folk music)

3:30-4:45 pm: Women and Cycling by Grease Mamas
Grease Mamas is a safe space workshop for women, womyn and womyn identified persons to come learn about bikes. The workshop covers topics surrounding how and where to lock your bike, laws, how to ride comfortably (bike fitting, clothes), issues women can face while cycling and basic mechanics.

Free admission, but donations are appreciated (0-$20 sliding scale). All proceeds to benefit Charlotte Maxwell (Oakland) and St. James Infirmary (SF).
