2012 Fillmore Summerfest Kick-Off Party & Free BBQ | SF

The 5th annual “Grillin’ in the ‘Mo” will jump start a summer of free concerts and festivals to be held in the historical Fillmore Jazz District. 

This free family BBQ  on Saturday, June 9, 2012 will also celebrate the start of 2012′s summer of fun and enrichment programs for the community’s youth. There will be plenty of food & live entertainment, featuring:

• Free BBQ with  hot dogs, hamburgers or chicken with sides of a salad, & a choice of  spaghetti, scalloped potatoes, baked beans, veggies & fruit. (Arrive early for food as supplies are limited)
• the Adrian Costa Blues Persuasion Band,
• Soul Mechanix Rhythm & Blues Band,
• the soulful sounds of Augusta Lee Collins, The Village Kids Chorus,
• the Hamilton Recreation’s line dancers,
• DJ spinning oldies jams to get you up & dancing,
• face painting, jumpers, & family activities for all.
• The Hamilton Rec Center pool and water slides will be open from 1p to 3:15p ($5 for adults, $1 for kids)

Free concerts and festivals in the Fillmore for 2012 will include the city’s Juneteenth Celebration (June 16-17), The San Francisco Black Film Festival (June 15-17), The Fillmore Jazz Festival (July 7-8) and the Fillmore’s 2nd annual Reggae Festival (September 2nd).
