Event Details

Central Market will come alive for the Art in Storefronts launch celebration.

The festivities include receptions at three neighborhood galleries, the debut of two temporary public art sculptures, live music lining Central Market, and Off the Grid food trucks. The community celebration will kick off with the unveiling the six storefront installations and five murals designed by San Francisco artists.

Tons of events and things to see:

  • Kick off: two murals unveiled outside of Gray Area Foundation for the Arts on Market Street & 6th
  • Gamelan X, a Balinese fusion ensemble, leads a procession up Market Street to UN Plaza.
  • Live performances at the UN Plaza by the John Brothers Piano Company; the Jaz Sawyer Trio; and the Space Cowboys DJ Collective
  • The public may play on Bulbous, a temporary wall of drums created by Office Division at U.N. Plaza
  • Meet the artists & see their installations giving impromptu art talks throughout the event.
  • In addition, the luggage store will debut artist Keith Agoada’s installation of living plants called City of Green, which transforms the exterior wall between the gallery’s second and third floor windows.
  • Exhibition: Gray Area Foundation hosts their Transmutations exhibition
  • Closing Party: Central City Hospitality House Community Art Program will hold a closing party for their Identity Theory exhibition.
