Awesöme Orchestra | Epic Free Classical Concerts

Awesöme Orchestra brings people together for musical adventures. Their free sessions are part performance, part open rehearsal. They provide the sheet music, and anyone is welcome to play or to listen.

The Awesöme Orchestra Collective is the Bay Area’s most adventurous reading orchestra, dedicated to playing excellent orchestral music of all kinds with amazing musicians in a fun, casual environment focused on high musicianship. Their events are always free, but they ask for a pay-what-you-will donation to help cover basic costs.

Welcome back from the holidays, and thanks to everyone who contributed to their end of year campaign, they were able to achieve and surpass their goal.

They are kicking off the year with an orchestral standard featuring one of the most famous children’s tales and selections from an arrangement of a prolific American opera.

Repertoire and schedule are as follows, with conductor David Möschler

1:00-2:30pm – George Gershwin – Porgy and Bess selections (instrumental arrangement by Robert Russell Bennett)

2:30-4:00pm – Serge Prokofiev – Peter and the Wolf, op. 67 with Scott Alexander, guest narrator
