Awesöme Orchestra | Epic Free Classical Concerts

Awesöme Orchestra brings people together for musical adventures. Their free sessions are part performance, part open rehearsal. They provide the sheet music, and anyone is welcome to play or to listen.

The Awesöme Orchestra Collective is the Bay Area’s most adventurous reading orchestra, dedicated to playing excellent orchestral music of all kinds with amazing musicians in a fun, casual environment focused on high musicianship. Their events are always free, but they ask for a pay-what-you-will donation to help cover basic costs.

Awesöme Orchestra | Epic Free Classical Concerts

Awesöme Orchestra will perform at the Oakland Public Library as part of National Night Out, fighting crime and making some awesöme music while they’re at it.

They’ll be in their outdoor courtyard on Madison Ave. between 13th and 14th street. Limited street parking is available, but it’s located within walking distance from 19th St. and Lake Merritt BART stations). Bring layers.

Repertoire and schedule are as follows, with conductor David Möschler:

*John Williams – The Asteroid Field from The Empire Strikes Back
*Stevie Wonder – “Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing” from 1973 album Innervisions (arranged for Awesome Orchestra by Wayne Barker)
*Leonard Bernstein – Symphonic Dances from West Side Story

Want to play? All you have to do is bring a music stand. They’ll have chairs, sheet music and water for all players (it’s a dry location/event this time, but feel free join them at Mad Oak cocktail bar afterward to celebrate). They have extra lighting, but please bring a battery-powered stand light if you have one.
