Awesöme Orchestra | Epic Free Classical Concerts

Awesöme Orchestra brings people together for musical adventures. Their free sessions are part performance, part open rehearsal. They provide the sheet music, and anyone is welcome to play or to listen.

The Awesöme Orchestra Collective is the Bay Area’s most adventurous reading orchestra, dedicated to playing excellent orchestral music of all kinds with amazing musicians in a fun, casual environment focused on high musicianship. Their events are always free, but they ask for a pay-what-you-will donation to help cover basic costs.

Awesöme Orchestra Collective is back at one of their favorite haunts, the Firehouse Art Hangar in Berkeley. To participate musically, you must sign up on the form here with your name and instrument(s). Feel free to come and just listen, too and bring any friends.

They’re going try something they’ve wanted to do for a long time: Awesöme Ensembles featuring a piece for string orchestra, jazz orchestra, wind orchestra, and full orchestra.

On top of all this, the composer, Casey Crescenzo (and front man of the band The Dear Hunter), will be in attendance for the US premiere reading of a selection of his new symphony.

Repertoire and schedule are as follows (roughly 30-45 minutes in this order):

  • Bernstein’s “Ballet at the Village Vortex” (jazz orchestra)
  • String Orchestra – Piazzolla’s “Libertango” (string orchestra)
  • Casey Crescenzo – Symphony No. 1, movement 3 (full orchestra)
  • Bernstein’s “Slava!” (wind orchestra)

To participate musically, you must sign up on Google form here.
Check out sheet music for all pieces on Google Drive here. Please note, Piazzolla parts will be distributed there, so please listen ahead of time.

Please bring a music stand. They’ll have chairs, sheet music and free drinks for all players.
