Event Details

This exclusive and intimate event at KQED hosts the Academy Award Nominated film and directors of Last Day of Freedom, Dee Hibbert-Jones and Nomi Talisman. Both filmmakers are also new recipients of the prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship.

Free, but an RSVP is requested.

They, along with guests Michelle Gaudet and Scarlet Nerad, of Community Resources Initiative will probe the difficult questions that arise in this groundbreaking film.

They invite you to meet and mingle with the filmmakers and guests in a hosted wine reception followed by a screening of the film and a fireside chat with our guests.

Last Day of Freedom

When Bill Babbitt realizes his brother Manny has committed a crime he agonizes over his decision- should he call the police? Last Day of Freedom, a richly animated personal narrative, tells the story of Bill’s decision to stand by his brother in the face of war, crime and capital punishment.

The film is a portrait of a man at the nexus of the most pressing social issues of our day – veterans’ care, mental health access and criminal justice.
