Underground Film Night: Obscure Super 8 & 16mm Movies | Berkeley

The Berkeley Underground Film Society (BUFS) is an all ages club for collectors, researchers, and film enthusiasts in the East Bay and San Francisco area.

Their goal is to review and share a selective film history of movies on film.

Every Sunday, they screen buried, rarely projected, or otherwise obscure 8mm, Super 8, and 16mm prints from their collection.

Hal Roach Celebration | Underground Film Night: Obscure Super 8 & 16mm Movies | Berkeley

Join Berkeley Underground Film Society for a look into the many worlds of one of the greatest producers of early silent and sound era shorts, Hal Roach.

You’ll take a look a several long forgotten shorts from his stable of stars, all on Super 8.

During the 1920s and 1930s, he employed Harold Lloyd (his top money-maker until his departure in 1923), Will Rogers, Snub Pollard, Max Davidson, the Our Gang kids, Charley Chase, Harry Langdon, Thelma Todd, ZaSu Pitts, Patsy Kelly and, most famously, Laurel and Hardy.
