Bernal Heights Outdoor Cinema presents “Agents of Change,” the story of the protests that shut down San Francisco State in the late 1960s.

Free, but an RSVP is requested to reserve your seating.

For this summer’s “Face to Face with the Filmmaker” screening, Bernal Heights Outdoor Cinema has chosen “Agents of Change,” an award-winning documentary focusing on the student-led movement for black and ethnic studies programs at San Francisco State University in the late 1960s.

Using the experiences of the young men and women who led these actions, both at SFSU and at Cornell University, local filmmaker Abby Ginzburg examines the untold story of the racial conditions on college campuses that led to the protests.

In its 14th season, Bernal Heights Outdoor Cinema celebrates its “Red Hill” roots and looks to films that invite openness and dialogue. “Agents of Change” offers a look at a trail-blazing moment that occurred nearly 50 years ago; it also provides a historical context for campus protests inspired more recently by the Black Lives Matter movement. An informal Q&A session with the filmmaker follows the screening.
