Event Details

Best-selling and beloved author Ann Packer presents The Children’s Crusade. This long-awaited novel follows the Blair family for five decades, from the idealistic beginnings of the young couple Bill and Penny Blair, through the birth of their four children, to the deep dissatisfaction that Penny feels at being a homemaker, and the tremendous toll her feelings have on the family. Packer explores how childhood experiences reverberate through our adult lives, as the four grown children struggle to create successful lives and families despite their past.

Ann Packer is the acclaimed author of two collections of short fiction, Swim Back to Me and Mendocino and Other Stories, and two bestselling novels, Songs Without Words and The Dive from Clausen’s Pier, which received the Kate Chopin Literary Award, among many other prizes and honors. She lives in San Carlos, CA.

In conversation with Tom Barbash, who  is the author of the award-winning novel The Last Good Chance and the nonfiction book On Top of the World: Cantor Fitzgerald, Howard Lutnick, & 9/11: A Story of Loss & Renewal, which was a New York Times bestseller. He currently teaches in the MFA program at California College of the Arts. He grew up on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and now lives in Marin County.
