Shaping San Francisco is a series of free lectures, which aim to excavate the city’s lost history. It’s a place to meet and talk unmediated by corporations, official spokespeople, religion, political parties, or dogma.

Ten Years | Shaping San Francisco | City History Lectures

On this two hour-long walk hosted by Chris Carlsson, enjoy a half dozen stops of the “Ten Years That Shook the City” audio tour that accompanies the anthology of San Francisco social movement history of the decade 1968-1978.

$5-10 sliding scale donation is suggested and an RSVP is required by calling 415-608-9035. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

You will hear the authors speak about the destruction of the American Indian Center, Third Worldism as activated by college students of the time, Underground Comix, women’s consciousness-raising, GI-led efforts to stop the war in Vietnam, and more.
