One Billion Rising 2018: Flashmob to End Violence Against Women

On February, one billion women and those who love them will walk out, dance, rise up and demand an end to violence against women and girls.

One Billion Rising For Justice is a call to survivors to break the silence and release their stories. The campaign is a recognition that we cannot end violence against women without looking at the intersection of poverty, racism, war, the plunder of the environment, capitalism, imperialism, and patriarchy.

Learn the One Billion Rising “Break the Chain” Dance and join the flashmob.

For the 5th community performance ritual dedicated to ending violence against women and girls, Bay Area Rising presents an evening of deepening connections, raising collective consciousness, and healing generational and personal wounds with art, spirituality, and activism.

In conjunction with One Billion Rising Solidarity Against the Exploitation of Women, contribute the Oakland flavor with drum, dance, spoken word, and healing.

These events are participatory experiences that will leave you uplifted, inspired, and determined to make a difference for women and girls locally and internationally. You may check here for more details.

Please note, the venue for this event will not happen at Destiny Arts Center but around 970 Grace Avenue, Oakland.
