Event Details

Dress in your finest black tie attire and join this all-ages free chess tournament on December 8 starting at noon to celebrate the defeat of Bezerkeley’s Sit-Lie Law.

Free to attend, but if you want to play, please RSVP by commenting with your name and skill level to guarantee your slot in the tournament.

Their first tournament was a protest of the criminalization of the homeless. Chess proved to be a powerful tool to cross class lines, for four hours in Downtown Berkeley’s Constitution Square and people also had a ton of fun.

Please do dress up – Black Ties are first come first serve if you’re wearing a suit, and there will be Martinelli’s and hors d’ouvres complimentary to those dressed in fancy attire.

Format: Be there at noon to ensure a slot in the tournament. For greatest enjoyment, Players will be Seated to best match skill to keep games fun and competitive. The Tournament will divided with the first elimination into two Tiers, of which the victors of each will fight for 1st, 2nd 3rd, & 4th place.
