Blessed in Times of Turmoil: Short Talk & Prayers | SF

In these tumultuous times we need to feel encouraged, supported and hopeful. Blessings connect us to enlightened energy as well as our own vast potential and thereby help us achieve a state of inner peace and optimism.

The word for blessing in Tibetan is jin gyi lob, which literally means “to transform.” When we request blessings, we are asking for our mind to be transformed from a non-virtuous state to a virtuous state, and from an unhappy state to a happy state.

Please join us a talk with Gen Kelsang Choma where she will explain a Buddhist perspective on how we can feel blessed during times of turmoil. The talk will be followed by prayers to Avalokiteshvara, Buddha of Compassion.

Followed by dessert potluck at 5pm.

FAQs

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
KMC San Francisco is within a block of the 16th Street BART station and the 22, 33, 14, 49 and 47 bus lines.

There is metered parking on the street and garage within 1 block called the Hoff Street garage.

Do I need to have any experience in meditation or be a Buddhist?
No. Everyone is welcome. The talk will include tools for generating compassion and positive minds that will be beneficial whether you are religious or non-religious.

How should I dress?
No special clothing is required, come as you are.

Are cushions and/or chairs available?
We are a Kadampa Buddhist meditation center and both cushions and chairs are available. You are welcome to sit on either. We do have a special chair for those who have back issues or other injuries. Please call for more information at (415) 503-1187.
