Bodysurf at Ocean Beach: Catch Waves & Learn Tips| SF

Brrrrr… this freezingly awesome event comes from Julian, one of our fantastic Funcheap readers:

Come join us for a bodysurfing meet up. We’ll catch some waves, talk technique and try out gear (I’ll bring the wide collection of handplanes I’ve collected).

If people are into this idea we can make it a regular thing, but Saturday January 31 will be the inaugural bodysurfing meet up.

Location: Northside of Ocean Beach near Kelly’s Cove. Park in the lot where Balboa St. hits the beach. We’ll have some chairs setup with something on a stick (like an extra flipper) that signifies the group. Someone will probably be at the beach. Feel free to leave your stuff at the group area and then if the waves are pumping join us in the water.

A few important notes: We’ll take a look at the forecast a few days beforehand and keep you updated if the status changes (may cancel if the weather or waves don’t look fun).

If you are into bodyboarding, piapos, boogie boards, or any other type of surfcraft come join us too. All are welcome. RSVP on the Facebook invite to get updates.

…One last thing, and it feels silly saying but swim and surf at your own risk. We totally welcome novice bodysurfers but we can’t take any responsibility for your safety. Ocean Beach can have some gnarly currents and waves at times so you need to know how to swim and be safe in the water.
