Book Reading w. Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs | Oakland

Nick Zinner, supercool guitarist of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs will be playing his instrument along with pal Stacy Wakefield while their collaborator Zachary Lipez does a reading of a collection of essay called “Please Take Me Off The Guest List.”

Sounds pretty cool, right? As a photographer Zinner’s pretty good, having done shows in NYC, Tokyo, Berlin and London. He’s the one who shot the pictures in the book which recount Lipez’ adventures as a bartender, drug abuser, bookstore clerk, metal fan, miserable adolescent and relentless skirt chaser.

The Uptown is a classic bar/club just a block away from the 19th Street Oakland BART station. It just took home several honors from the East Bay Express’ Best of the Bay 2010 winners list, including Best Club for Local Bands and the Reader’s Choice for Best Club. So go, already.
