Join SF State Sustainability on the Quad to celebrate Campus Sustainability Day, a nation-wide event at Universities to help grow awareness about the environment and sustainability.
Events include:
- Planter Painting Party
10:00- 12:00 pm
Come paint a waste receptacle and help transform it into a planter.- Sustainable Scavenger Hunt
11:00-2:00 pm
Start at the ECO Students table and follow the clues to different sustainable spaces on campus. Prizes and food available for participants.- Pancakes for Justice
11:00-2:00 pm
Come enjoy yummy organic pancakes provided by SF State students in Experimental College. Pancakes are only 25¢ each.- Sustainability Fair
12:00-2:00 pm
Come learn about the board spectrum of sustainability and get free food. Take the Sustainability Pledge and check out: CALPIRG Energy Service Corps, ECO Students, SF Environment, Sustainable Initiatives, Geography Club, Sustainable Living Roadshow, Holistic Health Network, Israel Coalition and Take Back the Tap.- Seasonal Cooking Demo with Sustainably Grown Local Produce

With Elianna Friedman, Market Chef at CUESA. Come learn how to make a tasty winter squash salad that is just as good for you as it is for the planet. Samples are available.- Hands-on Composting Workshop

With Maggie Guerra, Garden for the Environment. Learn everything you need to know about composting.
- Intro to Permaculture Workshop

With Kevin Bayuk, Urban Permaculture Institute. Permaculture is an ecological design system that guides us to work with nature to creatively integrate human and natural systems in ways that encourage abundance and sustainability.- Film Screening: The Fight for Water
2:00-4:00pm
HSS 306
Directed by SF State alumni, Juan Oseguera. The Fight for Water follows two California Central Valley farmers whose land was impacted by water restrictions and environmental regulations which led to a coalition of supporters and a water march across the Central Valley. Guest speaker Juan Oseguera and CA farmer will lead a discussion after the film.
