Event Details

Join the Castro community to honor Harvey Milk and celebrate the 40th anniversary of his historic election to the S.F. Board of Supervisors.

At 6 pm on November 8, 2017, San Franciscans will gather at Castro & Market St. to celebrate Harvey Milk’s vision of equality and to give everyone hope for moving forward towards peace and justice with speakers and performers, topped with the grand lighting of Ben Davis’ Harvey’s Halo followed by “Hope Will Never be Silent,” a permanent neon art installation on the old Bank of America building at Castro and Market.

This new installation, produced by Illuminate, the San Francisco arts nonprofit behind The Bay Lights and the illumination of the Conservatory of Flowers for the 50th Anniversary of the Summer of Love, will serve as message to all who come to the Castro with the immortal words of Harvey Milk.

We’re told how gorgeous the lights will look will be dependent on how much particulate matter is in the air, so the foggier the better – perfect for San Francisco.
