Do you like music? How about birthday cake? Well you and your friends and family are invited to celebrate Community Music Center’s 95th birthday on Sunday, November 20, 2016.
Community Music Center is celebrating their founder, Gertrude Field, and 95 years of music for everyone with free performances, workshops and lessons at their Mission District Branch.
The event includes a five-hour Performathon with CMC students, faculty, staff, and alumni performing to raise money for music scholarships.
This all-ages event is for musicians and enthusiasts alike. Refreshments will be served, and your favorite taco truck will be parked out front.
95th Birthday Schedule
In the Concert Hall:
12:00-5:30 pm – CMC’s first-ever PerformathonHighlights:
12:00-12:10 pm – CMC Field Day Orchestra kicks off the event
1:45 pm – Larry Dunn and Field Day Specials perform an original song for CMC’s 95th birthday – “It’s a Wonderful Day”
5:00-5:10 pm – CMC Field Day Choir caps off Field DayThroughout CMC’s Mission District Branch:
12:00-3:00 pm – Piano demo lessons with Lilia Zheltova and Kristine Zhang
12:00-3:00 pm – Drum set demo lessons with Eric Garland
12:00-3:00 pm – Music for Children demo with Irene Chagall
12:00-3:00 pm – Latin Percussion demo
12:30-1:30 pm – Chamber Music Reading with Loretta Taylor
2:00–3:00 pm – Songwriting Workshop with Larry Dunn
2:30-4:30 pm – Group Singing with Billy Philadelphia
3:00-5:00 pm – Piano demo lessons with Paul Dab
3:00-5:00 pm – Guitar demo lessons with Larry Dunn
