Central Market Now activates, promotes & celebrates the local Arts and businesses in the Central Market neighborhood – every second Friday. The event features open houses, free performances, exhibits, and merchant promotions monthly.

August ArtBlock stands for visual art open houses, inviting receptions and live music:

  • The Luggage Store Gallery, 1007 Market Street: featuring the Solo Exhibition by Teresa Baker, Headlands Center for the Arts Tournesol Award Exhibition 2014, thru August 9.
“She’s invoking relationship, making it up continuously until the process trumps itself-into the sought “moment when she is entirely present, with her materials, decisions, and actions all working together at once.” -Hazel White Affiliate Artist, Headlands
  • Hospitality House, 1009 Market Street presents “Single Room Occupancy,” artworks made by residents participating in year-long mobile art workshops.
For one year, Hospitality House worked with its partners at Delivering Innovation in Supportive Housing and Community Housing Partnership to bring fine art workshops to SRO residents living in the Tenderloin. This exhibition showcases the artworks made by residents participating in the year-long mobile art workshops.
  • SF Camerawork, 1011 Market Street, upstairs: “Up All Night” juried gallery show.
SF Camerawork is staying up late, so visit the galleries for a juried members’ exhibition of local and emerging photographers. The 9 finalists selected are: Joe Cornett, Amber Crabbe, Louis DeLuco, Christina McPhee, David Pace, Meghann Riepenhoff, Thom Sempere, Kyle Smith, and Jason Tannen.
Illuminate the Arts’ large-scale outdoor projection onto the eastern wall of the 1019 Market Street building “Let There Be” includes work from all artists who submitted work to “Up All Night”
