Event Details

Celebrate farm workers, labor leaders, and civil rights activists at the 5th Annual Cesar Chavez Day Celebration.

The day will include live music, Danza Azteca, youth cooking circles, speakers, spoken word, and community potluck, healing circles, and restorative justice themed workshops.  The event is free, but donations are appreciated.

  • 1:30 pm: Welcome North Oakland Restorative Justice Council – Youth Alternative Sentencing Pilot Project Campaign
  • 1:45 pm: Opening Prayer by Luta
  • 2 pm: Danzante Ceremoy (Danza Azteca)
  • 2:45 pm: Luta “Redstar” (Ohlone HipHop)
  • 3:15 pm: Soneros del area de la Bahía (Son Jarocho: music of VeraCruz)
  • 4:10 pm: Horacio Amezquita (San Jerardo Cooperative) – 67 Suenos Youth Performances
  • 4:30 pm: Los Nadies (unique blend of rock, nueva trova, South American Folklore and Afro Latin Rhythms
  • 5:30 pm: SF Alliance/Fair Food
  • 5:45 pm: Closing Circle honoring Donitra Henderson (a young mother lost to gun violence in North Oakland)
