Event Details

Chicken John, (aka John Rinaldi) is a showman, activist and prankster who generally makes San Francisco a better and more interesting place to live. He’s hosting Thanksgiving for Orphans at the Chez Pouet, his DIY art/event space in the Mission district on November 22, 2012.

Free, but RSVP is required to chickenjohn@gmail.com and you should bring something to share.

The dinner starts at 4pm, but come when you will. It’s a potluck, so bring some stuff to eat or drink. If you’re pathetic, bring a salt shaker and a ukulele.

Past Orphan Thanksgivings have been varied in size, but all filled with great people, great food and pleasant conversation. If you don’t have a family or just can’t stand them, or ya wanna do something after grandpa goes to bed, stop by.

2012 event recap from Chicken John
“What a strange brew… Just wow. It was shocking that we didn’t have cameras rolling. The dishes brought were borderline comedic. Someone brought a dish a cooked lentils. Someone else chopped up cucumbers. Plain. It was totally fine, we had plenty of food but wow.

This year more then ever these people were truly orphans. We played songs on the uke. Had a fire in the yard, told stories. Really fun night. People are just wonderful. Broken, lost, confounded and unconventional. I wonder if they truly know how lucky they are that they are not as perfect as they can be…. “
