The Chinese Cultural Center hosts their annual Spring Festival to help celebrate The Year of the Sheep on from 11:30 am to 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday, March 7-8, 2015.
The festival features exhibitions, crafts, demonstrations, Chinese dance performances, martial arts, and they will also be showcasing the opening of the center’s newest exhibit, Moment for Ink, and a Journey to Chinatown artist workshop with Justin Hoover and Gold Mountain. There will be interesting booths and prizes for participants to win.
China Dance performs compelling Chinese ethnic and folk dance in celebration of the diversity of the Bay Area.
Charlie Chin will premiere Men Who Conquered Mountains which is based on the life of Chin Lin Sou. As Artist in Residence at the Chinese Historical Society of America, Chin tells the stories of the Chinese workers who built the Central Pacifc Railroad.
Calligraphy Art Workshop – Artist Justin Hoover and Gold Mountain Society create various poems based on the Angel Island Immigration Stories through the art of calligraphy. They will hold an interactive art workshop during the festival for others to join and learn how to write calligraphy.
The Center is located on the 3rd floor of the Chinatown Hilton (750 Kearny Street).
