It’s Anchor’s “Drink Steam” Week

A full week of free concerts, silent disco pub crawls & limited-release brews

Anchor Brewing Company will once again celebrate America’s first craft beer, Anchor Steam, with the return of Drink Steam Week August 14-21, 2016 with events, drink specials, limited-release pours and happenings across the country (but mostly here in San Francisco) to celebrate Anchor’s rich history.

August 14-21

  • Limited-Release Brews: In addition to having Anchor Steam Beer on tap, Anchor Dry-Hopped Steam Beer–a  new, limited-release brew– will be exclusively poured on draught at these select locations in San Francisco before its national release in September.
  • Get drink deals and giveaways on Anchor Steam Beer and Anchor Dry-Hopped Steam Beer at the Anchor Beer Garden at The Yard in San Francisco.
  • Purchase a limited-edition Drink Steam t-shirt from any San Franpsycho location featuring a custom design drawn by a local artist. While you’re there, enter to win a VIP Anchor brewery tour and tasting

Drink Steam Week Kick-Off Party

  • 2-5pm at Anchor Beer Garden at The Yard – FREE Admission
  • Get a free scoop of Humphry Slocombe’s “Anchor Steam Cream” when you buy a pint of Steam Beer at the Anchor Beer Garden, or combine them to turn it into a float
  • Pint and growler deals on Anchor Steam and Anchor Dry-Hopped Steam Beer (a new, exclusive release)

Monday August 15th

Drink Steam with Sleeping Ghosts

  • 7-10pm at Thee Parkside – FREE Admission
  • Sleeping Ghost will be printing a limited-edition design; only 50 will be printed any they come with a free pint of Anchor Stea
  • Art showcase on the patio by local artist Gustavo Martinez
  • All-female DJ collective B-Side Brujas will be spinning
  • $1 off all Anchor beers

Tuesday, August 16th

Drink Steam with The Tambo Rays

  • 7-10pm at Make-Out Room – FREE Admission
  • Free live music featuring local bands The Tambo Rays and Dinosaurs
  • Anchor Brewing Tap Takeover and $1 off all Anchor beers

Wednesday, August 17th

Drink Steam at Pi Bar

  • 3:14pm-12am at Pi Bar – FREE Admission
  • Come grab a Steam at Pi Bar and hear stories from Anchor’s own Bob Brewer
  • There will be giveaways and Pi Bar is raffling off Giants tickets
  • Anchor Steam and Anchor Dry-Hopped Steam Beer (a new, exclusive release) will be available on draught.

“Drink Beer and Make Stuff” with Workshop SF 

  •  6-8pm – Anchor Beer Garden, The Yard at Mission Rock, – FREE Admission
  • Come drink beer and make stuff with Workshop SF DIY School
  • Workshop SF, one of the country’s first DIY schools, is partnering with the Anchor Beer Garden to host a monthly Happy Hour party so you can get your hands a little dirty and make something fun.
  • For the August Happy Hour, we’ll be offering DIY Beer Mustard making with several Anchor brews in the ingredients. Plus Anchor beer cap crafts.
  • Come on by, demos and interactive fun lead by local makers start at 6PM while supplies last. Happy Hour pricing on beer.
  • Anchor Steam and Anchor Dry-Hopped Steam Beer (a new, exclusive release) will be available on draught.

Drink Steam Week’s Whack-A-Mole Tournament

  • 7-10pm at Brewcade – FREE Admission
  • Think you’ve got what it takes to be a Whack-A-Mole champion? Then come down to Brewcade for the Drink Steam Week Whack-A-Mole Tournament
  • 1st place winner gets a VIP brewery tour and tasting for 4 people at Anchor Brewing! There will be prizes for the runner ups too
  • Anchor Steam and Anchor Dry-Hopped Steam Beer (a new, exclusive release) will be available on draught.

Thursday, August 18th

Drink Steam with San Franpsycho

  • 6-9pm at San Franpsycho, 1248 9th Ave in SF – FREE Admission
  • San Franpsycho will be live screen printing a limited-edition Drink Steam design created by local artist Zachary Rowe.
     Only $5 if you bring your own garment
  • 3 Fish Studios will be live printing a custom print. They’ll also be showcasing and selling a variety of their prints (hand pulled linocut prints & paintings).
  • Live music from local band The Good Bad.
  • Cold Anchor Steam Beer with all proceeds from the bar being donated to local non-profit Surf For Life.
  • Organic ice cream from Three Twins Ice Cream.

Drink Steam with San Franpsycho After Party

  • 9pm-2am at Blackthorn Tavern in SF – FREE Admission
  • Following the Drink Steam with San Franpsycho event at their 9th Ave shop, the party will continue at Blackthorn Tavern, an official Drink Steam Week destination.
  • Anchor Steam and Anchor Dry-Hopped Steam Beer (a new, exclusive release) will be available on draught

Friday, August 19th

Anchor Brewing’s Firkin Friday

  • 5:30-9pm at Anchor Beer Garden, The Yard at Mission Rock- FREE Admission
  • Join Anchor Brewing for their monthly Firkin Friday at the Anchor Beer Garden at The Yard
  • This month, in celebration of Drink Steam Week, we’re releasing a firkin of Anchor Steam Beer cask-aged on preserved local mulberries. This addition will lend some fruitiness as well as tartness, and a bit of funk.
  • Anchor brewers will be onsite to tap the firkin and chat about the beer
  • Pouring until the cask runs dry so come early.
  • Live DJ

Saturday, August 20th

Drink Steam Silent Disco Bar Crawl

  • 2-6pm in North Beach – $10 includes your first pint of Anchor Steam and $1 off beers – Purchase Tickets
  • Locations Grant & Green, Columbus Café, Northstar Café, Tupelo
  • Groove your way through North Beach during Anchor Brewing’s 2nd Annual Drink Steam Week Silent Disco Bar Crawl produced by HUSHconcerts
  • Tickets are $10 and get you a set of silent disco headphones, your first pint of Anchor Steam Beer, and $1 off Anchor beers.
  • Live set from DJ Matt Haze from the portable DJ booth- fog machine, lasers, and disco ball included

Movie Night at the Anchor Beer Garden

  • 8-10pm at Anchor Beer Garden, The Yard at Mission Rock- FREE Admission
  • Come celebrate Drink Steam Week with pints at the Anchor Beer Garden and a free outdoor movie
  • As part of The Yard at Mission Rock’s Community Calendar and in partnership with San Francisco Neighborhood Theater Foundation, we’ll be showing Best in Show on a large inflatable screen in front of The Yard.
