Tucked in between a punk-rock dive bar and a 24-hour dry cleaner is the surprisingly sophisticated Uva Enoteca, a Zagat-rated restaurant from a former Mario Batali staffer, with both an impressive pedigree and repertoire of rustic Italian dishes ranging from meatball sandwiches to farinata flatbreads.

Drink Up The Deals
One can’t deny that its well-known happy hour also delivers quite the deal, with $1.50 for a can of Mama’s Little Yella Pils, $4 for an 8 oz. mini carafe of Italian red wine and an assortment of starters, including and, a cold lentil salad with croutons and a margherita pizza.

They also occasionally change up the offerings, so that regulars can try out other options from the regular menu for the normal price of a pint, like a prosciutto pizza or an $8 serving of their normally $15 pasta arrabbiata.

Apps Pair Well with Alcohol
The appetizer-sized pizza was a nice starter topped with a fresh-tasting, creamy mozzarella that was accompanied by a bright, lemony bite. And while some pizza purists may prefer crust with a little bit more char, the simple sauce and spinach salad on top make for a savory snack that would pair well with some sauvignon.

The lentils may have also benefited from a little more kick, but were nevertheless a decent palate cleanser that would be tasty with some drinks or scooped up with some excess pizza crust.

Friendly, Knowledgable Service
The servers are also very affable and eager to talk about anything and everything from your vino to Yountville vacations. They’re also patient with questions and very good at explaining all of their pricy premiums and happy hour hops, though this may also meant that they can become quite socially preoccupied.

However, these experts on all things alcohol know what they’re talking about and are passionate about pinot.

So with sauve sommeliers, an assortment of cheap apps, well-paired wines and beers for a buck-fifty, head over to the Lower Haight for this half-price happy hour.
