2024 Skywatchers Guide: Meteor Showers, Eclipses + Supermoons
2024 will be a treat for skywatchers. To see Earth’s best show, all you need to do is look up. Here are all the best celestial events to look forward to in 2024 including meteor showers, supermoons, and eclipses.
For some Americans, the highlight for 2024 will be the long-anticipated total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024; however, only a partial eclipse will be visible in the San Francisco Bay Area. Some people will consider traveling to view the rare Total Solar Eclipse which is visible in Mexio and parts of the United States.
Plus, we’re in for several supermoons, which is when the moon appears brighter and may appear larger than a normal full moon. In 2024, there are 4 “supermoons” including a unique Super Harvest Moon Eclipse on September 17, 2024. Read more about what’s considered a “supermoon”.
Also, in 2024, we’ll have a penumbral lunar eclipse on March 25 when the Moon will pass through the Earth’s partial shadow and darken, and a partial lunar eclipse on September 17, 2024.
