Massive two-day Asian festival with drumming, dancing and food

The Nihonmachi Street Fair is a celebration of the Asian / Pacific communities in the Bay Area from 11 am to 6 pm on Saturday and Sunday, August 2-3, 2014 in San Francisco’s Japantown.

In 2014 the fair celebrates 41 years and will take to the streets again for a full weekend of live music, dance performances, food festival and art such as a Polynesian review, Filipino stick dancing, hula dancing, taiko drumming, ukulele performances – all representative of Asian and Pacific cultures and communities.

The Nihonmachi Street Fair’s entertinment has been a platform for veteran as well as up and coming musical performers.

NSF Clear Channel Cultural Stage
The Nihonmachi Street Fair will bring together again a diverse cultural line-up of performers that will include Hawaiian music & dance, Japanese dance and much more.

  • 12:15 – 12:45 pm: Divas SF featuring Savannah Summers
  • 12:45 – 1:15 pm: Shogo Yamada & Friends
  • 1:15 – 1:45 pm: Mark Izu & Brenda Wong Aoki’s Kabuki Cabaret – featuring: Masaru Koga (winds), Shoko Hikage (bass koto & vocals), Janet Koike (taiko & percussion), Kenny Endo (taiko & percussion), Akira Tana (drum & vocal), and Kai Kane Aoki Izu (hip hop)
  • 1:45 – 2:15 pm: Halau Ke `Olu Makani Ka `Ohu Mai Ka Lani, under the direction of Kumu Hula Meleana Manuel
