Presidio’s Tree Lighting & Lantern-Lit Forest Walk

A magical Friday night tree lighting plus gorgeous forest walk lit by lanterns.

The Presidio invites you to partake in the annual, magical tree-lighting ceremony, a decades-old tradition for the neighborhood. Plus there will be a lantern-lit evening forest walk.

Friday, December 8, 2017 | 5 pm
Presidio Main Post, San Francisco
FREE, but reservations are appreciated

Gather at the tree and sing holiday classics along with the Golden Gate Carolers—the tree lights up right at 5:30 pm. Light refreshments and kids activities will follow in the Presidio Community Y gymnasium, and don’t miss the lantern-lit evening forest walk at 6:30 pm. Partners include the Presidio Y, National Park Service, US Park Police, SF Fire Department, Presidio Residences, and Art Seed.

  • 5 pm – Event kicks off outside at the tree with Golden Gate Carolers. Meet & greet on Funston St with USPP horses and SFFD fire truck
  • 5:30 pm – Tree Lighting
  • 5:30 to 6:30 pm – Free Activities in the Presidio Y Gym
  • 6:30 pm – Lantern Walk leaves the Y Gym
  • 6:45 pm – Event closes
