What’s 83-feet tall and right in the middle of Union Square?

Macy’s Great Tree in Union Square, probably San Francisco’s most recognized Christmas tree standing 83-feet tall and decorated with more than 33,000 lights and 1,100 shining ornaments, will be officially lit on Friday, November 27, 2015.

The ceremony is expected to begin at 6 pm and the tree is scheduled to be lit at 6:40 pm. Enjoy live music, dance performances, and special appearances while waiting for that moment when the holiday tree is illuminated.

Headlining the 2015 festivities is Jordin Sparks, winner of American Idol Season 6, the singer, songwriter and actress also named the youngest winner in the series’ history. Also set to perform are the Vocal Rush from the Oakland School of the Arts, the Transcendence Theatre Company and the Contra Costa Children’s Chorus.

For the best viewing, get there really early, or head up to the balcony off of Cheesecake Factory in the Macy’s building and see the view from above.
