SantaCon 2016

Better watch out. Drunk Santas are taking over SF on Saturday
By - posted 12/7/2016 No Comment

“SantaCon” or “Santarchy” is San Francisco’s annual city-wide Santas-only pub crawl happening on Saturday, December 10, 2016.

This flash mob-type event brings together hundreds of slightly sober people dressed in Santa costumes parading around the city, visiting landmarks drinking at bars, and causing general mayhem.

And just so you know, wearing a santa hat isn’t enough… get yourself a full-on Santa suit.

SantaCon 2016
Saturday, December 10, 2016 | Noon
Meet at Union Square Park, San Francisco
FREE

Please bring a new, unwrapped toy for the San Francisco Fire Department Toy Drive. Volunteers will be collecting toys from under the Christmas tree in Union Square, the Handlery Hotel, or any SFFD Station.

Here’s the event map of participating bars.

Here’s the map guide:

  • Monkey = Ekology After-party
  • Red Bubble = Bar, Offering Specials
  • White Bubble = Bar, Santas Welcome
  • Red X = No Santas Allowed (please respect this)
  • Santa = “Official” Gathering Spot
  • Present = Toy Drive Collection Point (does not include SFFD stations)

The main rules:

  1. Wear a full-on Santa Claus suit
  2. Bring a new, unwrapped toy for SFFD Toy Drive
  3. Santas, remember the 5 F’s:
    • Don’t F with police
    • Don’t F with kids
    • Don’t F with security
    • Don’t F with bartenders
    • Don’t F with Santa

Want to sing along? Here’s the Santa Songbook.

Also, there’s a more organized SantaCon pub crawl that’s happening as well. Register in advance for $1, while supplies last, (ticket prices may go up to $5), and you’ll score discounted drinks including $3 draft pints and $4 well drinks. Please note, drink special will increase by $2 after 10 pm. Drink specials may vary at certain locations.

Be sure to check-in at any of the registration locations between noon to 6 pm. At registration, you will be given a map with the bar locations and when they’re participating in the drink specials.

Traveling from the South Bay? Join fellow Santas on Caltrain.

  • CalTrain #427 departs San Jose at 10 am. See the Facebook event page for more info.
  • CalTrain#431 departs San Jose at noon. Please note, we think this is happening as it’s listed on the South Bay Burners page; however, the event they link to is an entirely different event, but it’s also fun.

Please note, not all bars welcome Santas so be respectful and keep an eye out for the “No Santas” sign at the door. Everything is subject to change – Dates, times, locations… check SF SantaCon Facebook before heading out.
