The 8th Annual Market Street Snowflake Lighting ceremony will feature live music as city officials will count down to the illumination of 270 LED illuminated snowflakes on Market Street’s signature “Path of Gold” light poles in front of the cable car turn-around at Powell and Market streets.

Le Jazz Hot Syncopators will perform prior to the lighting ceremony. ABC Channel 7’s Spencer Christian will emcee this free public event. Father Christmas and other characters from the Great Dickens Christmas Fair will be on hand to add to the festive spirit and for photos.

The Path of Gold lights that run the length of Market St. from Steuart to Castro streets were originally installed in 1916 and cast a distinctive amber glow on one of the city’s main thoroughfares. They’re lit through mid January.
