Berkeley’s Secret Tiny Treehouse

A treehouse built for mice and faeries is waiting to be discovered

Check out this sweet little find (literally) that’s been hiding in the Berkeley Hills.

Tucked away on the Curran Trail you’ll find an old tree with a knothole housing a tiny post office made for mice, or even faeries (if you’re into that kind of stuff).

Leafcutter Designs, a wacky little design studio based in Berkeley that creates social art projects and other custom art pieces, had set up this little outpost for ants last December and now they want to share their creation with all Bay Area adventurers.

Here’s a map to help you with your search for this tiny post office.

Many hikers have added to the decorations by bringing stuff like fairy dust and tiny wall maps to furnish the dwelling. People have even thanked the creators by leaving a bite-sized letter for them to discover. The creators responded back by writing and leaving another miniature letter!

Keep your eyes peeled for for this little treasure, because you may easily overlook it while enjoying the Berkeley scenery. Bring something miniature to contribute to the office if you’re lucky enough to spot it (Lego people would be pretty awesome).

A whole tiny world awaits your discovery in the trunk.
